Cates Out for Sunday, Maybe Season

Sounds like Wes Cates will miss Sunday's west final and maybe even the Grey Cup, should the Riders make it that far. Head coach Kent Austin telling the media Wednesday that it doesn't look good for Wes, adding a statement regarding Cates' condition would be released by the team later in the day. The news is somehow connected with the results of an MRI which Cates had done on his injured foot Tuesday night. Josh Ranek has been cleared to play Sunday and Chris Szarka is a possibility as well.

4 Minutes of Gold

Many CFL writers have been doing blogs for their daily paper. You may see the outstanding one that my good friends Rob Vanstone and Darrell Davis have for the Regina Leader-Post. Another good one is from Mike Petrie of the Calgary Herald. He shot a video of the scene immediately following the final gun of what it was like on field level. Enjoy!!!!!

I Recognize Those Guys

When you are watching the highlights of the WSF and you see DJ Flick speeding down the sidelines, take a look at who is standing on the sidelines right by the goal-line. C'mon Jim, c'mon Eric...at least borrow some pom-poms from the cheer team if you're going to do that. :)

W2W4-The WSF Edition

Good morning Rider Nation and welcome to a day you have been waiting for for 19 years. Today is the day you see your football team in a home playoff game. Will it be like 1988 or will this team move on to Vancouver for the Western final. Here's what I'll watch for on Western Semi Final Sunday

Ranek In, Cates Out

Wes Cates will NOT even dress for tomorrow's west semi-final against the Stampeders. Wes has been held off the 46-man roster for tomorrow while his injured foot continues to bother him. Henri Childs has been brought off the roster as well meaning Josh Ranek will compliment Corey Holmes in the backfield while Holmes continues his kick returns.

The Final Sunday Will See

Z-Train Parked

It wasn't supposed to be this way!

Indoor Practice

Wanting his players to worry more about practice and less about the weather, Kent Austin moved his team indoors for today's practice. Coach Austin expects a mixture of indoor and outdoor practices leading up to Sunday's west semi-final at Mosaic Stadium. Meanwhile, Chris Szarka's partially severed fingers have not healed up enough to let him play against the Stampeders while Corey Holmes is ready to play. Wes Cates expects to dress although his coach has yet to confirm that. Linebacker Kitwana Jones is a definite no-go.
