The Riders made it official Friday afternoon, announcing they have signed free-agent slotback Jason Clermont to a deal for two years plus an option.
Clermont is originally from Regina, and played junior and university football with the Rams program before being drafted by the B.C. Lions in 2002. He won rookie of the year that year, and has since won outstanding Canadian twice. Clermont says he and his family are excited that Regina will be home year-round, instead of having to divide their time between Saskatchewan and Vancouver.
General manager Eric Tillman was a bit sheepish as he spoke about passing up on Clermont during the draft, while he was GM in Ottawa. Tillman says the Riders have a strong group of Canadian receivers, which helps their ratio.

I have to chuckle looking at the jersey. I just called a local retail store in Saskatoon that does Rider nameplates and asked if I can get Clermont's, he just laughed and said not likely and not soon. The popularity of this is huge!!!!!
