The Saskatchewan Roughriders are 2-0 thanks to one of their ugliest wins in recent memory.
Having to go with 3rd string quarterback Darian Durant in the second half because of an injury to Marcus Crandell and an ineffective Steven Jyles, the defending Grey Cup champs used a stingy defence and a strong performance from Wes Cates to knock off the BC Lions 26-16 at BC Place.
Crandell went down with a hamstring and his status for next week in Hamilton is obviously up in the air at this moment. However the story for two others is not good. Receiver D-J Flick suffered a broken ankle while backup defensive back Leron Mitchell broke his leg.
The Riders will look to go to 3-0 in Hamilton July 12th.

It might have been an ugly
It might have been an ugly win, but it was a win nonetheless. It shows great composure to pull out a victory in such adverse conditions. I think this demonstrates just how effective Coach Miller and his staff are, and how much the players are still in that "winning team" mindset... this is going to be a great season for the Riders. I'm thrilled that they are proving all those naysayers wrong so early in the season.
Again the riders proved that
Again the riders proved that they have the best defense in the league by providing the offense with the field postion that they needed to win. A "team" win again and as always entertaining. Thanks again!
Next week should be good
I think this win again proves that Tillman knows what he is doing. We certainly have depth. Hamilton will definitely be tougher next week but they are still not grey cup contenders...yet. Our stellar run defence should keep Lumsden at bay, and Printers will not do too much damage. Whoever starts at QB will deliver the win. Cates for over 100 yds. _29-19 Riders_.
poor dj
That was sickening to watch. heard he broke both the tibia and fibula. Any update Mitchy? Reaction from other team members, etc.
That may be a career ending injury, hopefuly he didn't destroy his legiments as well.
Rider win versus BC
mastermind Tillman finds diamonds in the rough to keep the Rider machine purring like a kitten!
It used to be BC third
It used to be BC third string quaterback that would beat the Riders. Now we see the team Eric has put together with depth and and tenacity.Great teams find ways to WIN.
