The Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback isn't giving up on the season.
Darian Durant surprised many by practicing on Wednesday after disclosing he had a broken bone in his foot following Monday's loss in Edmonton.
Durant says he feels the pain every step but doesn't want to quit on his team when he feels he can play with the injury.
"We still have a sliver of hope. You don't get seasons back. You want to leave your mark on each and every season you get. As long as we have a chance, I'll be out there."
What if?
There is a chance the Roughriders will already be eliminated from the playoffs by the time they kick-off against B.C. on Sunday.
If the Tiger-Cats defeat the Montreal Alouettes earlier that day it will take away that 'sliver of hope' the Riders have.
Durant says they'll cross that bridge when they get to it.
"I'm pretty sure that's something that we'll discuss along with the doctors. As of now, we're going to treat it as if they lost and we can just keep going forward."
Head Coach Ken Miller was a little more pointed about the prospect of the Tiger-Cats eliminating the Riders before Sunday's kick-off.
"We're going to play to win. We're going to play to win every game. It doesn't matter to me if Hamilton wins or Calgary loses. Those things we don't control. We're going to play every game to win."
Offensive woes
Whether or not Durant is behind centre or not hasn't made a difference over offensive success.
The Roughriders go into Sunday's game on a 205 minute drought without an offensive touchdown. They've been outscored 99-9 over their last three games.
Durant believes the problem is execution. They've been able to move the ball but when they get in position to score, they fail.
"Our players are trying to do more than what they should be trying to do," explained coach Miller. "What I need to do is get them to play within themselves and do what it is that they can do. They're tremendous players when they do what it is they can do. When they try to do more than that, they press."
The Head Coach has looked back and thinks as the season has gone on and the pressure to win has grown the team has been pressing harder and harder.
