PHOTOS: Regina Police searching for driver of hit and run

Police are searching for the driver of a hit and run at Dewdney Avenue and Angus Street late Tuesday afternoon.

A van hit another vehicle at the intersection then took off, ending up totalled a few blocks away in an apartment building parking lot on Retallack Street.

"I heard a big crash and my roommate was out in his car and all of a sudden he looks in his rear view and this van is like barreling down," said Jeremiah Copeman.

Van crashes into downtown Regina restaurant

A loud bang interupted a late lunch in at 20Ten City Eatery in downtown Regina Tuesday afternoon.
 
Rachelle Chay works in the restaurant at the bottom of Hill Tower III and was in the back dropping off plates when she heard it.

"I thought maybe a light fixture fell or one of the tables toppled over," she said.

A van involved in a crash with a car ended up with it's rear end smashed into the restaurant's doors.

Two people were sitting at the table right next to the doorway but they were not hurt.

Photo: Warman business robbed at knife point

RCMP continue to investigate an armed robbery in Warman on Sept. 23.

At around 9:20 p.m., a man between the ages of 18 and 20 years old, entered a business on the 400 block of Central Street in Warman armed with a knife. Police said the man instructed two clerks on duty to empty the cash registers and they obliged. The man fled down Central Street with an undetermined amount of cash. The clerks reported no injuries and there were no customers in the business at the time of the incident.

President of Search and Rescue Regina working on reactivation

The president of Search and Rescue Regina (SARR) says he’s trying to get the chapter reactivated as soon as possible.
 
SARR was temporarily shut down earlier this month by the Saskatchewan association after President Lloyd Goodwill approached Regina police with a complaint.
 
“There was a point in time and I decided, yes, it's a little too much and we have to get this rectified and straightened out as soon as we can,” said Goodwill.
 

Regina police charging more drivers through RID program

The City of Regina is seeing a jump in the number of drunk drivers reported through the Report Impaired Drivers (RID) Program.

New figures show 764 calls have come into the RID Program so far this year. That’s only a slight increase from 717 this time last year. However, the number of people charged with impaired driving stands at 85, compared with 52 at this time in 2013 - that's a 63 per cent jump.

“I think this is encouraging,” admitted Troy Hagen, Chief of the Regina Police Service.

3 face charges after classic cars stolen near Yorkton

Three people are facing charges for stealing two classic cars in the Yorkton area.

RCMP believe the 1969 Pontiac Firebird and 1976 Dodge Dart were stolen sometime between September 9 and 16 from a Quonset near the outskirts of the east-central city. Officers found the cars north of Grenfell on September 19.

On Monday afternoon, RCMP sent out a news release saying two men and one woman were facing charges in the case.

Shot fired into second floor of Saskatoon apartment building

Saskatoon police have a mystery on their hands after a shot rang out on Kingsmere Boulevard Monday evening.

They were called to an apartment building on the 800 block when a witness apparently saw a man firing a handgun from the parking lot at around 6 p.m.

A bullet went through a patio door on the second level of the building.

Police aren't sure if there was anyone in the apartment at the time, but nobody was there when they arrived.

Additional charges in Regina counterfeit money bust

More charges are being laid in the money counterfeiting operation shutdown in Regina's Washington Park area last week.

Police are laying an addition nine, drug-related charges on top of the charges already laid on two of the eight people involved.

On Monday, September 22, RCMP and the Regina Police Service discovered the operation with counterfeit U.S. money during a search of a home in the 800 block of King Street.

Assault charges laid in Regina stabbing

Assault charges are being laid after man was stabbed in Regina's Washington Park area early Monday morning.

Police responded to a weapons offence at a home in the 800 block of Angus Street around 5:30 a.m.

When they arrived, officers found a 39-year-old man with stab wounds and he was taken to hospital to recover.

25-year-old Evan Jake Pelletier was arrested on scene and charged with Assault with a Weapon and Fail to Comply.

He makes his first court appearance on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

Stolen car found in pedestrian underpass in Saskatoon

Saskatoon police are looking into the case of a stolen car found jammed into a pedestrian walkway on Monday.

Police were called shortly after 7:30 a.m.  about a vehicle being driven erratically down an alley off the 2300 block of 33rd Street West.  

A witness told police the car was being driven with a flat tire by a teenage male who hit a fence before driving off.

Police arrived to search the area and found the vehicle stuck in a nearby pedestrian underpass, with the suspect having fled.
