Update: Wrong-way Highway 1 chase ends in crash near Herbert

What started with a 77-year-old woman being pulled from her car in Swift Current ended with a man crashing her car into a hay bale near Herbert on the Trans-Canada highway.

RCMP in Swift Current were called around 8:30 a.m. Monday after the woman's car had been stolen from the parking lot of a business. Police say she was forcably pulled from the car by a 38-year-old man who then drove off.

Saskatoon man thwarts armed robbery on U of S campus

A Saskatoon man said he didn't have a choice after stepping between a 21-year-old woman and her would-be robber on the University of Saskatchewan campus.

Chase, 26, was riding his bike home from work Friday evening when he decided to take a scenic route. At around 6:15 p.m., he happened across two people who appeared to be wresting on the ground.

"I thought, 'Oh, it's just some people horsing around.' You know, guy has his buddy in a headlock," he said.

Pedestrian-vehicle collisions nothing new in Regina

A man was killed after being hit by a vehicle on Saturday night and, unfortunately, he's not the first.

"People can be walking, crossing the street mid-block for example, and drivers aren't expecting them to be there when they are there," said Sergeant Ian Barr, with the Regina Police Service traffic division.

Barr said there are lots of reasons pedestrians get hit whether it's their fault or the drivers'.

Six people in hospital after accident near Rosetown

After the van they were riding in lost control, five teenagers and a 24-year-old man were brought to hospital in Rosetown.

Regina police destroy concerning substances Saturday afternoon

The Regina Police Service's explosive disposal unit was called into action for the city's Household Waste Day on Saturday.

People can bring items for disposal to the Household Waste Day. In the afternoon, workers became concerned over a few pails of peroxide and some other crystalized substances.

The Regina Police Service was called and officers took the substances safety out of the city where they were burned.

Deadly crash on Highway 11

Rosthern RCMP are looking for answers after an accident that left one woman dead and sent three others to hospital Saturday evening.

Just before 5:30 p.m. a car carrying a 75-year-old woman and a 75-year-old man was headed South on Highway 11. At the northbound entrance to Duck Lake a car carrying two teenagers turned West in front of them and the vehicles crashed.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene while STARS Air Ambulance was called in to transport the man to hospital with serious injuries; they were both from Saskatoon.

Armed robbery in Saskatoon's Erindale neighbourhood

Saskatoon Police are investigating after an armed robbery in the Erindale neighbourhood early Sunday morning.

At around 4 a.m. three men went into a business on the 400 block of Kenderdine Road. Two of the men had their faces covered with bandanas and one was wearing a Halloween mask.
One of the men held what appeared to be a handgun.

They demanded cash and cigarettes before taking off.

A canine unit was used but police said they were unable to track the suspects.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Police in Moose Jaw searching for SUV after hit and run

Around dinner time on Friday, a vehicle carrying five children was hit by a truck and sped off.

It happened in Moose Jaw near the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Palliser Campus at McDonald Street and Algoma Avenue around 6:20 p.m. Police say the kids were treated for minor injuries by EMS on scene and were released.

As of Sunday morning, police in Moose Jaw were still searching for the vehicle involved: a newer truck, possibly green, with heavy damage to the front end.

Moose Jaw police are asking anyone with information on the hit and run to contact them, at 306-694-7600.

23-year-old man charged after stabbing in Moose Jaw

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Moose Jaw after a stabbing Friday night in the eastern part of the city.

According to police, officers were called to a fight on the 800 block of 7th Avenue Northeast at around 10:40 p.m. When they arrived, police found a man who had been stabbed multiple times. The man was taken to the hospital by EMS, treated and released; his injuries were non-lifethreatening.

The 23-year-old man was arrested "immediately." He's being charged with assault with a weapon and several breaches.

Pedestrian killed in Regina hit and run

A 27-year-old man is dead and, as of Sunday morning, Regina's police officers were still searching for the culprit in a hit and run.

According to the Regina Police Service, the crash happened Saturday night around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Albert Street and Saskatchewan Drive. The intersection was closed for several hours as officers investigated.

Witnesses told police that a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle, then the vehicle took off, driving away.

EMS was called to the scene but when they got there, the victim was pronounced dead.
