A Prince Albert family is searching for answers after they lost their son in a horrific incident early Saturday morning.

A car was found engulfed in flames in the West Flat at about 1 a.m. When the fire was put out, human remains were discovered.

The boy's mother, Fanny Ballantyne, confirms the remains are those of her 13-year-old son, Wayne Ballantyne.

She said the last few days have been very emotional for her as she waits for answers, she only knows what she has heard from people in the community.

Human remains are confirmed to be found in a burned vehicle over the weekend.

Prince Albert Police are reporting at about 1 a.m. on Saturday, a patrol unit saw a car fully engulfed in flames.

It was in a driveway in the 900 block of River Street West.

According to police, it was while they were trying to evacuate the residence for safety that officers noticed what looked like human remains in the car.

Prince Albert Fire Department was called and extinguished the fire. It was later verified that they were human remains.

A 26-year-old man is dead after being hit by a car Saturday morning.

It happened at around 4 a.m. on the Gordon First nation. That's about an hour north of Regina.

Police say the man was walking along a poorly lit grid road at the time. After hitting him, the driver apparently stopped and called 911.

The man died at the scene. We have yet to hear whether charges will be laid.

A Saskatoon man says he was scammed after realizing $900 went missing from his Affinity Credit Union account over the weekend.

"I'm sure they got hundreds of people that could have lost a minimum of $500. That could be up to 50 grand up to half a million dollars," said Darryl Cherry, who believes he was the victim of a debit card scam targeting Affinity Credit Union customers in Saskatoon.

Cherry wasn't able to contact his branch manager because it was a Sunday, so he called police.

A major drug bust in the Meadow Lake area.

After a six month joint investigation involving a number of police detachments - with the goal of dismantling drug trafficking in the area - two residences on the Flying Dust First Nation and two in Meadow Lake were searched on Friday.

As a result, eight adults and one youth were arrested and charged. Two individuals are still wanted and have warrants out for their arrests.

In all four searches, a total of 106 grams of crack cocaine, $11,000 in cash, four vehicles and four firearms were found.

Details are few, but RCMP have confirmed it was human remains that were found east of Saskatoon this week.

Mounties say an examination by a forensic anthropologist determined the remains found in the RM of Corman Park are those of a male.

The person's age and identity are still a unknown as well as any details to how the body got there.

An autopsy was completed yesterday but RCMP aren't releasing any more information.

A Saskatoon woman sobbed uncontrollably as the verdict of manslaughter was read aloud Friday at Court of Queen's Bench for the teen who shot and killed her 19-year-old daughter Charlotte Jolly in 2009.

The charge was originally second degree murder, but Justice Grant Curry stated there was not enough evidence to prove that charge.

For more than a week, court heard various witness accounts of the night the teen and Jolly met in a Westview area alley off Avenue W in September 2009.
