Rider cuts
Can't say I'm surprized by any of the decisions. Will be interesting which cuts from other CFL teams will make their way to Riderville.
Olajab??tu
I thought Sam was our linebacking saviour , guess not.
Juan Joseph
I'm not trying to sound negitive but I'm a little surprised they canned this guy {Juan Joseph} after trading for him kind of a wasteon our part. Oh well go Riders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cuts
Didn't we trade away someone big for Juan Joseph?
Saskatchewan Roughriders
Just a thought on the quarterbacking - rewind to Austin/Joseph, fast-forward to _______Durant/Jyles/Bell. It takes a quarterback to effectively mentor a quarterback on the mechanics and the specific quarterback skill sets used during the game. Methinks it might be a long season if we don't get a bona fide quarterbacks coach. Because I either missed it or haven't heard, I am presuming that Marcus Crandell was only a guest coach during training camp. Hope I am wrong! I have been a die-hard Rider fan for 45 years and will be one forever.
Cuts deep
It appears we gave Kitwana away for nothing.Im not surprised Edmonton does not usually give QB's away.Sorry but coach Miller had his first head coaching job in his 60's that alone should tell even the average fan all he or she needs to know.
Surprised, a bit.
I was bit surprised to see Sam Olajabutu get cut, also Joe Sykes.
Mind you, once the vets came out, Sykes didn't look that good at all, but am glad to see he made the practise roster.
I also thought that Casey McGahee might make the practise roster.
It's amazing what a fumble can do to help the caches make up there minds !!!!!
A real good bunch on the practice roster, I think.
So Juan Joseph is gone I see.
I am still having trouble with that trade, being Kitwana for Joseph.
Anyone else out there feel the same way as I do re that trade ??????
so we traded kit jones for
so we traded kit jones for someone who ended up being cut anyways- im really not liking ken miller- as someone mentioned, it takes a great quarterback to teach a quarterback. Durant, Jyles and Bell all are mediocore, and can't become great without a TRUE quarterback to show them the ropes. They keep talking as if Durant is a leader; yet, he just isn't a 1st string quarterback- maybe he could have been if it wasn't for the ridiculous season, which included rotating your quarterbacks ever game- but even last year, they had noone who was a true veteran like a Ricky Ray, or Anthony Calvillo. My predictions- Sask Riders will be the leader for most interceptions thrown, since Durant has shown he makes terrible desicions under pressure, as has Jyles- and Bell will be completely lost as he has noone to teach him.
It is only a we will see
It is only a we will see scenario. It is obvious that Kitwanna Jones did not want to play here with all his playmates leaving for the same sandbox, so you would have seen an unhappy person playing not his best anyway. I think that the Rider staff made the only and best deal they could under the circumstances. He wasn't going to play very well anyway, and at least we got someone at the time to soften the blow. Time is usually a good indicator how well this will go down. I am personally very excited to see Ech here. New ideas, new eyes. It is going to be good, people.
