Posted May 29, 2008 - 11:23pm

One of the players making a name for himself at Rider rookie camp is receiver Adarius Bowman. Projected to be one of the top receivers taken in the NFL draft, Thomas ended up being snubbed mainly because of a conviction for marijuana possession. Riders GM Eric Tillman took a chance on Bowman and it may pay off as Bowman is reminding some of a young Matt Dominguez. Bowman says he isn't looking at the CFL and the Riders as a stepping stone to get back to the NFL saying that league isn't going anywhere.

Riders coach Ken Miller is a long ways away from having to submit his opening day roster but he gave hints today that one of the rookies taking part in the three day rookie camp will be there. Miller is very impressed with University of North Dakota grad Weston Dressler and says by hook or by crook he will be on the 42 or 46 man roster when the season starts if he can stay healthy. Miller believes Dressler--who graduated from North Dakota as the school's all time leader in catches--may be the fastest guy on the team veterans included.

Big Week Ahead

Rider Rookies Report On Wednesday
Posted May 26, 2008 - 6:15am

It's back to business for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Rookies report to camp on Wednesday, while vets report on Saturday. The gruelling two-a-day work outs start Sunday morning at Mosaic Stadium.

As is always the case in Saskatchewan, many eyes will on the quarterback. Marcus Crandell, the 2001 Grey Cup MVP, sat back and watched Kerry Joseph lead the team to the Grey Cup last November. Now this is Crandell's team. The fact that Crandell is a veteran will help his mental state this season, because anything less than a repeat of a championship will lead to criticism.
