The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released 9 more players ahead of today's cut deadline. And a surprise maybe to some is the release of 2nd year defensive lineman Joe Sykes.
Sykes came into last season with a lot of hype, but in the end defensive line coach Mike Sceper says the decision came down to one thing.
"In the end the cream will rise to the top and unfortunatly for Joe he wasn't one of them. We're going to move on unfortunately without him."
Head coach Ken Miller says he was disappointed in the result.

Kent Smith Released
Posted June 15, 2010 - 1:22pm
The Saskatchewan Roughriders came into rookie camp with five quarterbacks but in the span of two weeks they've whittled it down to three. Sunday's game was more than enough for the Roughriders to cut ties with lefty pivot Kent Smith.
Smith went 2-12 in the fourth quarter and was unable to move the football into game winning field goal range, despite having great field position for most of the final quarter.
